The focus was indeed purely on the look & feel—no real new functionality or customization.
That said, our goals were more than purely aesthetic. By making the app more pleasant to use, we hoped to make it feel more approachable. We believe it has a positive impact on user sentiment and prospective customers, though there’s no robust way to measure that. Simplifying and scaling back the weight of UI elements makes our data and content easier to read. And, consolidating our styles streamlines future design and development efforts.
